Trip to Comana, out of Bucharest – two reasons why you should go
I’ve enjoyed recently a trip to Comana Nature Park, on a wonderful sunny winter day, just south of Bucharest about one hour drive.
The area of Comana is attractive from two perspectives. First, having Comana Monastery founded by Prince Vlad Dracula ‘The Impaler’ and the local legend that Dracula presumably lost his life in a battle in this area, the place is highly evocative of the terrible prince. Somewhere in the woods there is an old fountain, and the story says that the monks from nearby monastery dug a well on the spot where Vlad the Impaler lost his life.
Second, the dense forests and Romania’s second Delta with swamps and wetland and reed thickets, make up something rather special for nature lovers.
