I warmly invite you to enjoy wine tasting in the wine region of Dealu Mare, on a day trip from Bucharest. The vineyards of Dealu Mare in Prahova County lie on gentle slopes on the southern foothills of the Carpathian Mountains, some 100 km north-east of Bucharest. Dealu Mare is one of the major wine regions in Romania, considered the realm of Romanian red wine.

Discover and learn about Romanian wines, including wines made from local grapes such as the famous Feteasca Neagra. More than just a wine tasting tour, this is an authentic Romanian experience as we travel through off-the-beaten-track rural countryside in a region that is still virtually unknown to tourism.

Itinerary/Highlights:

An hour-and-a-half drive from Bucharest will take you to Lacerta Winery, our first stop. You will be given a tour of the winery, starting with a visit of the plantation and all the way to bottling, including the fermentation room and barrel wine aging room. The guide will explain the entire wine making process, and you will be invited to taste wine directly from the tanks and from the barrels.

Then you choose yourself from the list 6 wines for tasting, out of their 17 wine varieties that include red wines, as well as whites and rose. You will have a platter of cheese and bread to help you cleanse your palates between wines.

Later we have lunch to a local restaurant where you can enjoy Romanian traditional food, paired with another glass of wine produced in the area of Dealu Mare.

After lunch, visit of Buduresca winery (or another winery depending on the availability). It includes guided tour of the winery, explanation of technology of wine making, the story and philosophy of the winery, and wine tasting of 5 different wines accompanied by a platter (bread, cheese, cold cuts, fruits). Late afternoon return to Bucharest.
