The Central Market House (Halele Centrale) on the site of the present day Piata Unirii. The Market House was dismantled in the 1930s, as part of a city modernization plan initiated by King Carol II. In the background to the left, one can recognize the dome of the Palace of Chamber of Deputies and the Patriarchy Cathedral complex.
