In the period between the two World Wars, in the double context of a thriving economic environment and of public programs aimed at modernizing the city, Bucharest experienced an intense activity in terms of construction. With the spread of Modernism in the European countries, the new movement was widely adopted in Bucharest for both public and private projects. The new architecture gained adherence with the rising middle-class of self-employed and industrialists who thus found their own way of expression.
