Peles Castle in Sinaia, Romania, former summer residence of the Romanian Royal family

If visiting Romania, make sure you will not miss the Peles Castle, former summer residence of the Romanian Royal family and symbol of Romanian royalty. The Peles Castle, considered by many one of the most beautiful castles in Europe, is located just two hours from Bucharest, in the breathtaking scenery of the Carpathian mountains. Due to its high historical and artistic value, Peles Castle is considered one of Europe’s foremost monuments of its kind dating from the second half of the 19th century.

A little known fact is that Peles Castle hosts original works of the renowned Austrian artist Gustav Klimt, symbolist painter and promoter of the Vienna Secession movement. Back in 1883, the artist’s Viennese painting workshop was hired by the Romanian king to decorate his new Sinaia residence.

Peles Castle is included in almost all my tour itineraries. If interested, please see “Sinaia, Bran & Brasov 1 Day Tour” at this link https://unknownbucharest.com/sinaia-bran-castle-brasov-1-day-tour/ or other suggested Romania tours.
