While the main collections of the National History Museum are not yet available to the public due to lengthy restoration works of the building, the Military Museum “King Ferdinand I” makes for an excellent alternative for history enthusiasts. Established in 1923 by the Romanian King Ferdinand I, this notable museum, set up in a century old building close to the Bucharest North Railway Station (Gara de Nord), celebrates in 2013 90 years since its foundation. Besides the rich collections of uniforms and weapons displayed in different pavilions, a delight for the passionates about military history and related artifacts, the main exhibition of the museum is a thorough run through Romanian history, from Antiquity to the Romanian 1989 Revolution.
